i went to Dana Harbour again today, but this time, i went on the jetty. these are two pics from the jetty and oi...it was absolutely breathtaking to be standing there, but i had a mission...
i wanted to go all the way out to the end of the jetty. i had to. curiosity and adventure begged me to see it. it was treacherously fun, all the jagged boulders i had to hop around on and climb to and from made it even more exciting! =D
it was about 35 feet after the ''tides may cause high waters'' warning sign that i saw this carved into the rock. you may have to click the pic to see the larger size in order to read it. i thought it was neat :-)
facing the end of the jetty and looking right^
and then looking to the left ^
and all along the jetty, as soon as i got within...15 or 20 feet, just about every kinda bird would fly away. but this one pelican stayed put. i got about 4 feet from him and he didn't move. i snapped a picture, pointed at 'im and said ''thank you! :-) '' maybe i should've asked him ''why the long face?'' *dodges tomato* :-p
i made it alllll the way to the end of the jetty, then turned back around and snapped a pic of the beach near the starting point of the jetty.
at sunset, i took a pic of the boats in the harbour. i can tell this is gonna be a pic i'll look at and really miss being here.
then i headed back out to that cave i went to yesterday. found some shells that i *may or may not have* picked up and placed into my pockets ;-) then i took some more pics of the same area as yesterday's post. all of these pics are the same size file, so click 'em if you wanna see the true size, i just scaled 'em down to fit 'em in here. oi, walking out there is a real treat. the waves crashing against the rocks, the strong ocean breeze that carries the oh-so clean and refreshing smell of the ocean. i'll never get tired of that smell. it's sooo salty you can almost taste it...*sigh*
YYY i really am gonna miss cali.
this one, i debated whether or not to put it in here, since my camera doesn't do too hot at night. but eh, why not, right? this is the harbour with all the boats in it (like the picture above) at night, and the full moon is reflecting off the water there.
oi, if you wanna see all the posts that have pics, then at the bottom of this post, there will be a hyperlinked ''pic'' click that and it'll bring up allllll the posts marked ''pic''

New Years at Dana Harbour (click the pics for larger view)

i got hella close to this bird. hella close. he flapped his wings a few times like he was thinkin' about flying away, but i caught 'im rite when he was settled down. awww:-)

this was just beautiful. i know i took a pic of this section of the beach *slightly to the right this time* just last post, but it deserved another :-)

next, i ventured down to look at the tide pools. that's a sea anemone^ he's so cute! =D

i don't know how i missed these last time. hella muscles.

this time, i went further down the beach. i would have gone this far last time, but there wasn't enough time. so this time, i was so ready to see what was out there, and i saw this^ i thought i'd never see something like that in real life -- waves pounding up against rocks and splashing hella high.

so i ventured out as far as i could, b/c i HAD to know how far i could go. well at a point, it's just some rocks that the water washes over and the cliff is right against the ocean, so there's no way to go further unless i walked in the ocean:-p but there was a cave! cool cave! this gallie invited me into it, and on the other side, you see this^

as i headed back, i looked at the sunset and snapped a few pics of that, too. Y

as i walked back, night fell, but the moon was bright before it was dark. i snapped some pics here of the moon peekin' out from behind the wall of rock that follows the whole length of the beach. and yes, the full moon did reflect off of the water. it was Yly

and i want to thank you for giving me (one of) the best day(s) of my life
8:35am incoming call: Natalie 0m 55s.:

N: ''Were you sleeping?''
me: ''umm...no? :-)'' *totally got up and jogged in place for 5 seconds before answering the phone to try to cover all traces of recent slumber in his voice*
N: ''you were! :-p okay, so, how 'bout i come over there at 9?''
me: ''okay that'll work :-)''
N: ''alright, i'll leave in a little bit''

1st Stop: Original House of Pancakes. sOoOo delicious. Good day, sir!
then, we went here: (''here'' = the dana harbour marine institute ;-) )
and walked over to the jetty, which was closed, but we saw this:
and then we walked over a ways onto the really rocky part of the beach:

got back home at about 11:51. looked around online a bit, found someone who wanted to know about the eye exercises, so i told them about it.
then Mike, from AZ, now in Cali (in the marines at Camp Pendleton), imed me. he was granted liberty for the day, so he invited me to go see him :D had hella fun, chilled, ate some taco bell, played ghost recon on xbox 360, listened to hella stories about boot camp, walked around a bit, and pretty much just chilled. this dude is my brother from another mother.

Mike: ''hey mike, take a picture of me doin' the splits so i can send it to someone on myspace!''
me: ''okay, well, lemme use my camera.''
Mike: ''okay, well, come over here cuz i gotta do it over where there's room!''
me: ''okay, now hold it. *goes to different camera angle* *snaps a pic* aww you moved!''
Mike: ''well hurry up! :-p''
me: ''okay, just lemme get a few more angles....*awnriness has taken over at this point; snaps another pic* ''

oi, today was so much fun. i should have made every day here like this. i guess i just didn't see how precious everything was until i realised i wasn't gonna be around it much longer. it's chill, though. i plan to be out here again, not making the same mistake twice ;-)

the pic is actually a thumbnail ;-)
-U2, with a special editing from me :D it's gotten clearer and clearer these past few days that i am going to regret leaving cali. that's okay, it's not permanent. i plan on coming back here someday. i'm gonna miss it while i'm gone, though. *le sigh* you didn't know i could sigh in French, did ya? ;-)
